911 VERSUS CRIME CHECK CALLS
For a life-threatening emergency or to report a crime in progress, please call 911.
Call 911 if you are at home and think someone might be breaking in. If you return home and suspect someone has broken into your home, go to a neighbor’s and call. Do not go in.
In non-emergency events such as suspicious behavior, noise complaint, or a crime NOT in progress but discovered after it occurred, call Crime Check (509-456-2233). Make sure to ask for the incident number. Once you have the incident number, please email the association manager at bakerstmgmtco@gmail.com.
ADDITIONAL SAFETY IDEAS
-
KEEP OUTDOOR LIGHTING ON AT NIGHT.
-
Keep all doors and windows locked or use pins or dowels inserted in the tracks if you want to leave windows open a few inches for ventilation.
-
Don't leave keys in planters or under doormats. Instead, leave a spare key with a trusted neighbor.
-
Never let a stranger into your home to use the phone. Offer to make the phone call yourself.
-
Never say you are not at home on your answering machine.
-
Do not open the door for solicitors or strangers. Talk through the door.
-
Do not leave your car in the driveway unlocked, especially overnight.
-
Do not leave the garage door opener in your car if parked outside. Keep your vehicle registration, proof of insurance, or any other personal papers with your address in your wallet or purse, not in the glove compartment.
-
Consider posting a "Beware of Dog" sign, even if you do not have a dog. A large dog dish on your patio sends a message.
-
Ask neighbors to pick up papers or deliveries if you are away. Make sure they know how to turn off your main water valve in case of an emergency. Leave a contact number and have their number as well.
